On December 1, Icon of the SeasSM — the newest engineering marvel to join the Royal Caribbean® fleet — crossed beneath the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark with just a few meters of clearance, en route to its new home port in Miami, Florida. From operations to meteorology, Royal Caribbean® teams contributed their expertise in innovation and engineering to ensure the most revolutionary ship ever cleared the bridge safely.

Icon of the Seas arrived in Cadiz, Spain on December 5 to welcome its first group of new crew members onboard and begin final touches before the ship's arrival in Miami, Florida. Over the next 19 days, crew members will familiarize themselves with this new class of ship and make last-minute preparations as they await the first guests onboard. Additionally, Central Park® will be transformed into a tranquil oasis with over 33,000 tropical plants installed along the surroundings of exciting new venues like BubblesSM and Lou’s Jazz ‘n BluesSM.

Crew members and special teams onboard Icon of the Seas had the once-in-alifetime opportunity to celebrate the holidays on this one-of-a-kind ship before its inaugural sailing. Crew members from all over the world gathered to share their traditions and partake in joyous festivities. They enjoyed an all-out holiday bash that included a delectable meal and every crew member received a special gift.

Let the transatlantic journey begin! Icon of the Seas bids farewell to Spain to begin the exciting voyage to its home port in Miami, Florida. During the 9-day crossing — from December 24 to January 2 — design experts and engineers will make final adjustments to ensure the ship delivers the best family vacation in the world. Additionally, numerous teams of specialists will work around the clock to stress test all the venues, hang nearly 10,000 art pieces, and test attractions like Crown’s Edge and the Category 6 waterslides. Plus, entertainers will finally take their land-based rehearsals into the venues where they will bring shows to life. Divers will make their first splash in the AquaTheater, and skaters will perfect their spins for the first time ever in Absolute Zero.

On January 8, Icon of the Seas docked at Perfect Day at CocoCay and Royal Caribbean leadership was there to welcome the incredible ship and its crew. In appreciation for their tireless efforts throughout the transatlantic voyage, crew members disembarked to enjoy a well-deserved day, filled with endless thrills and ways to chill. Plus, they got a chance to be among the first to enjoy Hideaway Beach — an adults-only beachfront party in paradise. This marked the ship's first ever visit to the award-winning island — and the last stop before Icon sailed into its new Miami home port.

Let’s get the party started! On January 10, 2024, Icon of the Seas entered the port of Miami for the first time. The record-breaking ship and its world-class crew were greeted with cheers by Royal Caribbean® shoreside employees. For the next 17 days, the Icon of Vacations will be part of exciting inaugural events, including the Naming Ceremony, trial cruising and technical adjustments.

The most awaited day of the year has finally come! The Icon of Vacations set out on its inaugural sailing on January 27, 2024.
